Hi! I'm a trauma informed SSP Therapy Provider & Mindfulness Instructor from San Francisco, CA. For the first few years of my practice, I worked with couples to see how their nervous systems & survival responses were affecting their ability to connect & find intimacy. We can't connect well & create fulfilling meaningful relationships when we are dysregulated.

10 years ago I got the calling to start directing my focus towards things like Anxiety & CPTSD. A friend of mine was attacked in her apartment while sleeping. She went from being an accomplished doctor for UCSF Medical to not being able to leave her house despite all the therapists & medications she'd tried. After 2 sessions she was back at work & my journey to helping people overcome challenges like this began.

In my early days I used EMDR & other Nervous System regulating techniques but my goal became learning how to put the power to heal back into the clients hands so they weren't dependent on me for regular sessions. It's what lead me to certifications in both Polyvagal Theory & the Safe and Sound Protocol. It's what inspired me to create the Be Well Course so anyone can learn what they need to know about their Nervous System, SSP, & how to use it to retrain their involuntary responses to life & stop the old programming that is accidentally getting in their way. In Zoom Sessions, I focus on the things that might be harder to explore on your own. It's why I include 1 Complimentary Session with each SSP Subscription sign up.

Why I Recommend Daily SSP Practice Instead of Only Once Per Week With SSP Therapy Providers?

My background is working with people who struggled with Anxiety & CPTSD from severe childhood abuse. When you come to sessions with people that have gone from therapist to therapist & found nothing that's worked consistently, everything you do matters. They're justifiably cautious & afraid to find evidence again that you're just another person who can't help them & that this isn't going to work. I am a deeply intuitive trauma informed SSP Therapy & Inner Child Work Practitioner who has been given the gift of working with highly sensitive people like this & discovering the methods that consistently work to help them change the way they feel & get the results they want to see in their life.

I discovered over the years that the Safe and Sound Protocol is a wonderful tool, but it's a lot like exercise. Listening to the SSP Therapy Audios is like lifting weights for your middle ear muscles.

  1. You don't start with the heaviest weight, or in this case, with long infrequent sessions of listening.

  2. Only listening once per week with a provider & asking your body to CoRegulate is like hitting the gym to pick up a heavy weight once per week & forgetting about it the rest of the week. How quickly is your body going to change, get stronger, & learn to hold the new shape that you are working to train it into if you're only practicing once per week?

  3. What About CoRegulation? - SelfRegulation is what you do when you Regulate your own nervous system without anyone else around or when someone else is dysregulated but you choose to maintain your own regulation. CoRegulation is what you do when you are around someone else & can be more triggering as you start listening to SSP. To avoid unwanted side effects that some people feel in the beginning, I recommend listening by yourself to get used to SelfRegulation first. When you are comfortable after a month or few months of listening, you can try introducing CoRegulation as a way of intensifying the experience (like a heavier weight). If you are a parent with a child who feels calmer & more regulated with you right next to them - or you are a person who has a human or animal in their life that feels naturally regulating - then CoRegulation can be okay earlier on. As always, listen to your nervous system & adjust as necessary so that you aren't triggering yourself as your body adjusts to being more familiar & accepting of regulation.   4. Everyone knows that small, incremental, consistent practice done over time leads to lasting change. It's the same when it comes to SSP. Listening to the SSP Therapy Audios in between your One-to-One sessions is like picking up a light weight a little bit each day. You get to gradually bring your nervous system into regulation so you don't trigger unwanted side-effects while you create lasting results.

  5. If you don't teach people how to help themselves then, one day, they will learn to become dependent on you. That outdated model of One-to-One Only Support & "needing" your therapist just never sat well with me. In my early days, when I saw dependency forming, it inspired me to find ways to put the tools for healing & change back into my clients hands. It's what first inspired the practices you'll find in the Be Well Course & eventually lead me to Nervous System Regulation, Inner Child Work, & the wonderful Safe and Sound Protocol Audios.
